Regions that currently need a Community Coordinator:
- A Community Coordinator is a volunteer parent or guardian who is 18 years or older, has had a student enrolled at South Carolina Connections Academy for at least one school year and that student or student(s) are in good academic standing.
- All Community Coordinators must receive background check clearance.
- All Community Coordinators must complete proper training.
What is the purpose of a Community Coordinator?
- Community Coordinators serve to foster connectedness and community between students, learning coaches, teachers, and staff throughout the school year, primarily by planning and leading both Sanctioned and Non-sanctioned Events.
Community Coordinator Responsibilities (include, but are not limited to):
- Planning, coordinating, and attending all events.
- Communicating with the Student Engagement Specialist in your planning process and getting their approval for all events.
- Submitting proper documentation to the Student Engagement Specialist.
The Mission:
- Plan fun and educational community activities.
- Engage students in interactions with peers through activities.
- Create positive interaction and socialization for families.
- Follow guidelines and policies as outlined in the handbook.
Frequently Asked Questions:
- Is this a paid position? No, this is a voluntary position.
- How many events do I need to expect to plan? We would like 1-2 in-person events planned each month.
- Will I be working alone? Yes, each region that has a Community Coordinator only has one, for now.

- Mid Coastal (Dorchester, Berkeley, and Charleston counties)
- Upper Coastal (Marion, Horry, and Georgetown counties)
- Upper Midlands (Chesterfield, Marlboro, Dillon, Darlington, Lee, Florence, Clarendon, and Williamsburg counties)
- Western Upstate (Pickens, Oconee, Anderson, and Abbeville counties)
